now a days we can see some brahmins ( by birth ) doing toddy tapping in that case this person who do this job for his living, .. is he an ezhava or a brahmin ? rakshass and kattalas are still here with us, all around us, but in new disguises,, the costumes changes from time to time..( even the earth we lives is always changing ) they were there all these years, now a days we are not able to differentiate between rakshasa and devas. that is our fault... if you read Hindu Puranas you will come face to face with some people whom can be described as raakshas and kattalas.. and their work pattern is also describe.. if you are asking about new age kattalas... there are many. in old days even kattalas had some culture in them.. some eg of new age rakshasas : keralas chief minister ? Ummen. he stole money from the Tsunami relief fund for the poor people. he has done so many thing like this before. but this was the best. 2. our icream fame kunjali. what a work he did..!! 3. latha nair. kiliroor case fame 4. sonia... yeah the one you thought of... and the leader of all these kattalans resides in US that you can read by yourself. describing Hindu purana is not that easy... how about the working pattern of kunjali kutty. is he a brahmin ( his samskara wise, ) or kattalan ? in which category will you put him in... then you have the answer of your question yeah its like that,,, in Sanatana Dharma ( hinduism ) every one is God.. the caste system and all came because of the jobs heirarchy. like we have managers , clerks , scavengers etc, . like mar pappa, bishops and kapiars... a kapiar can become a bishop or even marpapa. if he has the will in him, like wise a person who do clerical works ( eg. vaisya ) can be a poojari ( a brahmin )... but at one point of time everything went our of hands, and its all because of people not because of Culture ..
